The sensation of euphoria felt first time using cocaine will never be reached by the cocaine users. That’s why they will constantly increase the dose and the frequency of using the drug. Usually, the symptoms of an overdose include fever, rapid heart beat, and agitation. During an overdose the addict may have also a heart attack.

The long-term use of cocaine is reflected in long-term effects or serious health issues like blurred vision, chest pain, hallucinations, heart attack, heart disease, seizures, even stroke. Combining cocaine with heroin may affect the respiratory system and slow down the user’s breathing, with severe consequences. Cocaine and alcohol is another combination that you want to avoid, since it causes the body to produce a toxic substance called cocaethylene in the blood.

Cocaine is routinely screened for in drug tests, especially employment related drug testing. It will show up in the user’s urine for around 72 hours after use, for occasional users. For more frequent users, the drug stays in the body longer. Certain antibiotics can trigger a false positive reading on a drug test. Long-term, habitual users may have traces of cocaine in their system for longer than the standard three days. A hair test can reveal cocaine use up to 90 days after use.

Cocaine treatment has two components: detoxification and rehabilitation. The first step is to stop using the drug. For a person trying to quit cocaine, they may experience intense cravings, anxiety and depression when they seek help. A medically-supervised detox program may include medications given to reduce the severity of  these symptoms.

Most of the cocaine addicts are reporting that they desperately want to quit the abuse but they are not capable. Worse, they frequently increase their doses to intensify and prolong the euphoric effects. We strongly recommend to everyone reading this article to stay out of cocaine’s use, however, if you or someone close to you have problems with cocaine addiction, we suggest you to visit Drug Rehab Centers.
