I can understand your viewpoint as a user of marijuana but everybody is different the way they will react to a drug. So this is not true that marijuana is harmless. When you work as a counselor and people cannot stop anymore. They are just "hooked" on it. I don't think that we can call that harmless. You speak with your own viewpoint which is not the majority.

respectively i will have to disagree with you. cannabis has been used for thousands and thousands of years for many different reasons. just to name a few:
1)fuel sources, textiles and fabrics
2)medicinal uses
3)recreation
4)the most corrupt and evil use; to make money. and no not by drug dealers by our very own government
there is one main factor for the u.s. prohibition of such a fundamentally endless resource. as we all know the campaigns for government officials are funded mostly by large pharmaceutical companies. the drug companies dont want a plant on the market that people can easily grow themselves that will reduce their own incomes by up to 80 percent. thats right, 80 percent of all prescription medication can be replaced by the use of cannabis. they would never throw the necessary millions of dollars towards the campaign of a cannabis enthusiast.
they have pretty much brainwashed us all into thinking that marijuana has negative effects on our health. this is not true. the only side effect physically is an increase risk of emphysema. thats it. no risk of cancer; the active chemical in cannabis (thc) actually prevents the forming of tumors. and all the worries of tar and emphysema can be eliminated by digesting it. yum :) as far as lack of motivation is concerned that really depends on the users own psychological composition. all the chemicals in our body that regulate homeostasis are chemicals similar to thc.
as we all know there has been extensive research on our plant. in every test, in which they compared the driving capabilities of individuals under its influence to the capabilities of those who are not, the ones under the influence were surprisingly more alert and cautious due to paranoia.
the whole gateway theory has been proved wrong long long ago. once again the individuals own psychological composition will determine whether or not they will move on to harder drugs. but thats not the only reason the gateway theory is inaccurate; most people try drugs that are regulated before they try marijuana. tobacco and alcohol. and the only kind of withdraw from cannabis is extensive dreaming depression and things that really arent that big of a deal. ive been through them all and still love my weed. you can quit just as fast as it took you to get high with the first taste.

marijuana is a harmless drug. there has never been one single death due to marijuana. cannabis has been used for thousands and thousands of years. more people die every year from ACCIDENTAL tylenol overdose. so why are we throwing so many people in jail?? why is the us so determined to keep it illegal? if they can sell us alcohol that will ruin our lives and the lives of those around us, then why cant they sell us a simple plant that has never hurt anyone? the government can get billions of dollars every year in tax revenue which is much needed in todays economy. not to mention that they would save a lot of money by not incarcerating so many non violent cannabis users. plus itll chill us all out!!! which in america today, we all need.

dont criticize it, legalize it
