The drug known as ecstasy is a synthetic, psychoactive drug similar to the stimulant methamphetamine and the hallucinogen mescaline. It’s main component is MDMA, (3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), although many ecstasy tablets contain also a number of other drugs or drug combination equally harmful.

MDMA is a drug that acts as stimulant and psychedelic, producing an energizing effect, euphoria, feelings of closeness, empathy, sexuality and to reduce inhibitions. It is considered a “party drug” and is frequently used by students in the campus parties. The ecstasy tablets purchased on the street contain methamphetamine, caffeine, the cough suppressant dextromethorphan, the diet drug ephedrine, and cocaine, and is rarely used alone, usually with alcohol and marijuana, but could be any other drugs. On the street is known as “MDMA”, “ecstasy”, “XTC”, “E”, “X”, “beans, “adams”, “hug drug”, “disco biscuit”, “Go”, etc.

One of the effects of MDMA in high doses is that reduce the body’s ability to regulate temperature, producing hyperthermia, resulting in liver, kidney, and cardiovascular system failure, and death. This happens by repeated drug use within short intervals.

The effects are the same as at the users of cocaine and amphetamines. MDMA increase heart rate and blood pressure, muscle tension, involuntary teeth clenching, nausea, blurred vision, faintness, and chills or sweating.Consequences as withdrawal symptoms, fatigue, loss of appetite, depressed feelings and trouble concentrating are very common among MDMA users.

The worse problem for the MDMA users is that after a long-term abuse they remain with damages for life. The ecstasy effects are evident even 6 or 7 years later after quitting the drug abuse, which prove us that ecstasy is not a safe drug. We strongly recommend to everyone reading this article to stay out of ecstasy’s use, however, if you or someone close to you have problems with MDMA addiction, we suggest you to visit Drug Rehab Treatment in Canada.
